Mara Women Empowerment Assistance (MWEA) is aware that poverty results from wide range of historical, cultural, social, educational and economic factors; it is nonetheless casually related to disproportionately high levels of adverse effects among poor people.
It also recognizes that, all people such as but not limited to people with physical and mental challenges and disabilities, the poor, young mothers, orphans, widows, widowers and children are entitled to the equal enjoyment of civil, economic, social and cultural rights. Therefore, MWEA was established to serve such communities both in the urban and rural centers that are marginalized particularly women and youth
Our Services
MWEA, as an NGO is committed to empower community development activities including microfinance services with mainstreaming of HIV/AIDS awareness and supporting people living with HIV, prevention of gender based violence, community grants, training and education support for children from poor families while promoting gender equality within the society.

As a pioneer in microfinance services and localized lending institution for over 15 years, MWEA brings unique expertise, community roots and proven business model and approach to financial inclusion.
Women & Youth Empowerment
Women and youth make a significant number of world’s population, but in countless ways do not enjoy the same rights and social benefits. Women are more likely to be unemployed than men and bear the brunt of unpaid care and domestic work.
HIV/AID Mainstreaming & Support
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by theNo matter how much progress is being made, the HIV epidemic still distresses Tanzanian lives including communities in Mara region.
Latest Projects
MWEA works in Mara Region across Musoma, Rorya, Butiama, Tarime, and Bunda districts and, as of now the plan is to extend MWEA services to the Serengeti District.

This was a two year project from June 2019 to December 2021 subcontracted with MWEA by IHE Delft institute for water education from Netherlands.
Our Focus
MWEA targets economically disadvantaged and poor people with a specific focus on women and youth to increases their participation in economic activities and access to resources through microfinance, community grants and educating them to influence how they utilize their resources, MWEA seeks to increase the likelihood of clients investing their increased disposable income in the well-being of their children and the community.
